high blood pressure because lack of sleep? i've been getting like 6 hours of sleep the last 3 days and have been really tired. today in school (i'm a substitute teacher, 22 years old) i had first period test my blood pressure because it's an EMT class. it was 140/92 could it be high because i haven't been getting enough sleep and because i had coffee this morning? just wondering...i also just started taking Levothyroxine for hypothyroid.

fr33d0m09 replied: "140/92 is really that high of a blood pressure. It could be cause of the coffee but also it could be some stress, but you have nothing to worry about. Your blood pressure is fine"

Arlanymor replied: "140/92 is high but not too serious.Mine goes to 220/110 and i am still alive but by god i feel ill then.Coffee and lack of sleep don't help or something pressing on the aorta."

David replied: "if you exercise regularly, it will come down. coffee will push it up. your blood pressure varies by 20% daily. check it when you,ve had a good sleep, and before you have coffee. i take 75mcg of synthroid. same thing as L.....no effect on my pressure. i have 1/2 a thyroid."

Midnyte replied: "Yes. That someone's liver and kidneys would shut down."

Emaster replied: "Theoretically, but it all depends on how quickly they are taken, how many milligrams of each pill, and if their expiration date is in check"

angiea276 replied: "Yes, or worse, you could become a comatose and/or brain dead vegetable."

John de Witt replied: "Who the heck knows? Some of those work at cross purposes to others, and God only knows what's in the blood pressure pills."

Big Weenie replied: "death and overdose kinda work together most times... and by the way...dont kill yourself... we all know it was for you... youd def be doing some matrix stuff"

Mixing alcohol with High BP & Thyroid medication? High Blood pressure medication = Amlodipine Besylate Under-active Thyroid medication = Levothyroxine Sodium What would happen if I mix alcohol with these medications? Once a week or once every 2 weeks I usually drink whiskey and a lot of it. I basically drink to get drunk...not just to get buzzed. I just started my meds last week, so this will be my first time drinking. I know there's a bigger risk of stomach bleeding and liver damage. I just want to know what I'll be feeling. Will it just hit me harder or what? I'm pretty much just hoping to hear from someone who actually drinks while on their meds or from someone who has done this before. I know of 2 people who do drink while on high BP medication every single day, but they drink beer and it doesn't really affect them. I'm guessing it will be different for me considering I'll be drinking hard liquor. I asked this question not too long ago, but I didn't get many answers. So, I'm trying again.

mixmasteralan replied: "Isn't this what Heath Ledger did? and died."

mtwaites replied: "My boyfriend is on high blood pressure medications, and he is able to drink up to 2-3 a time. It will depend on however, how much you way, your tolerance to alcohol, and what type of condition that your metabolism is in with the thyroid medications that you're on. I would check with your doctor just to be sure."

Ker replied: "i know the obvious reason you are posting this question online is because you don't want to check with your doctor, but don't be foolish. you're talking about your health here, which from the sounds of it isn't so hot to begin with if you are on high blood pressure and thyroid meds. should you really even be drinking alcohol to begin with? probably not. focus on your health or you could end up in a lot of pain and regretting this kind of behavior later."

? replied: "You need to contact your pharmacist about this. You really don't want to mix amlodipine and levothyroxine with alcohol without asking the prescribing doctor AND the dispensing pharmacist. Just give the pharmacy a call. Trust me, we get weirder questions than that each day."
